There are hundreds of large gyms in all major markets.
Personal training is at an all-time high, and is a part of main-stream society.
There are hundreds, thousands of online workouts and diet regimens.
Senior citizens joining gyms and engaging in exercise programs are at an all time high.

So why is America getting fatter?  It is a fact - more Americans are considered obese than ever before and our youth, our future, are less active than ever.  Obesity related diseases are rising, but yet we are living longer...thank god for good medicine!

Isnt it interesting:  25 years ago weight training was only for men, specifically athletes.  We know so much more now about how to reduce body fat, and the science of exercise and diet of the 70's and 80's pales in comparison to what we know today.  Coupled with all of the above facts, why are we still getting fatter?

I believe we DO know more now.  I think we are just more glutaneous.   And we enjoy our "relax" time more than ever.  So why?

Fast food restaurants...one on every corner.
Processed foods.   Less whole foods with good nutrition.
More foods laden with saturated fat and sugar.
Starbucks.

And for the kids...

No phyical education in school.
School lunches with no nutritional value and vending machines filled with junk.
Video games - when I was growing up - there were none!!

Putting up more gyms and more online diet and exercise websites just doesn't solve the problem.  I have to say it is a long term change that can only be reversed the same way it started - with your family at home.

Parents model regular exercise and good eating habits, and children will follow.
