Carbs get such a bad rap, and the truth is most of your diet should consist of carbs!  Starting with the Atkins revolution all the way up until just hearing it today - "I have to cut back on my carbs"

Wrong!  Get carbs in your diet.  As a matter of fact get about 40-50% of your diet through carbs.  If you are active (which I hope you are!), your exercise is fueled by carbs...therefore you need carbs prior to your workout for readily avaiable fuel, and then some simple carbs just after your workout to replace what you just used!

Carbs are also the fuel for your brain.  Have you ever been on a low carb diet or just not eaten for a number of hours and it is hard to put a thought together?  Lack of carbs for fuel = lack of brain power (and sometimes we don't have much to give up!).

So it is not about giving up carbs, it is about finding the right carbs.  And it is probably not even about cutting down on carbs, moreover cutting down on calories...that is where most people make mistakes.  You want to have carbs that are low on the glycemic index, thus keeping your blood sugars even throughout the day.  This will keep you from having the sugar "highs and lows" and keep you from certain cravings you may give into from time to time.

If you need help with structuring a meal plan or getting the right carbs, just let me know...
