It is MLK Day, a day off from school, and my kids and some of the neighbor's kids took it upon themselves to create their own business today - washing cars in the neighborhood!  It is sunny and 75 degrees today, but this took me back a bit - this is not the youth of America...or is it?

I always say that fitness is modeled at the home.  It is not a P.E. teacher or a coach who leave a lasting impression on the value of fitness to a child, but rather the parents...kids see their every move, and tend to follow the same patterns.

So what does washing cars have to do with fitness...nothing, absolutely nothing.  But it also has absolutely nothing to do with Play Station 3 or Sponge Bob either!

These boys got outside, away from the TV, got their brains thinking, and I commend them for their efforts.  Maybe there is hope for getting America more fit, and getting people off the couch on on their feet.  Remember, parents model fitness.

About one hour from now I am going to go workout.  I will tell my kids that we are going to the gym..."but Dad, why do we have to go?"  And I will tell them, like I tell them every time - "It is important to workout, and you will understand that someday."

I challenge you to model fitness, model a healthy lifestyle for your kids this year.
